Dr. Finley is a native Texan. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas in 1984. He completed his three year residency at the University of Texas Family Practice Residency Program at McAllen, Texas. He became board certified in 1987, thus becoming a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice (DABFP). In 1996 he was elected as a Fellow of the American Acadamy of Family Practice (FAAFP) patient education division.

Continued board certification requires a minimum of 50 hours of continuing medical education (CME) per year. Dr. Finley consistently exceeds that requirement. He feels strongly that modern medicine changes so rapidly that it requires frequent CME.

One of Dr. Finley’s special interests is patient education. For years he has served as a Medical Reviewer for the American Academy of Family Practice Patient Education Division. He is currently developing an extensive patient education resource center within the Cottonwood Medical Clinic.
